Explore Bonita Restaurant

Bonita Restaurant sits at 1814 2nd St in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and it’s the kind of neighborhood spot I like to introduce to people who appreciate relaxed dining with generous portions and a menu that offers both comfort and local flavor. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it easy to stop in for a laid-back lunch, an early evening meal, or a special occasion that doesn’t feel overly formal. When the weather cooperates, outdoor seating is a great option, and inside you’ll often find a lively but unpretentious vibe. The food is where Bonita really stands out: the green chile burger is a favorite for many, known for its balanced heat, smoky bacon, and satisfying size, while burritos come impressively large and well-stuffed, often finished with a rich, flavorful sauce and paired with a soft, fresh sopapilla. Seafood and appetizers also make a strong impression, with dishes like mussels, calamari, and buffalo wings prepared with care and bold seasoning, making them ideal for sharing. Traditional plates such as shredded beef tacos highlight the kitchen’s strength with classic flavors, and both red and green salsas add a memorable kick that enhances every bite. During happy hour, discounted cocktails, beers, and appetizers draw in a cheerful crowd, and on some occasions live mariachi music adds an unexpected festive touch. Service is generally attentive and efficient, even when food arrives quickly during quieter hours, and parking is usually easy despite the restaurant being slightly tucked away from the main road. Overall, Bonita Restaurant offers a satisfying mix of hearty portions, varied menu options, and a comfortable setting that feels approachable whether you’re a local or visiting Santa Fe for the first time.

This is a great place for a casual meal! We stopped on a Sunday early evening was not busy. Sit outside if the weather allows! I ordered the Green Chili Burger with a side salad. Salad was typical and excellent. The burgers was also very good and I enjoyed it tremendously. It has the right amount of heat and the bacon was a nice touch. Do wish I'd ordered it medium rare rather than medium, but that's a personal wish not judgemental. My wife order the Burrito with chicken. It was huge packed full of chicken and smothered in a wonder sauce. It came with a Sopapilla that was excellent! We'd definitely come back next time in Santa Fe! The location is a bit hidden back off of the road and hard to see from the main street, but GPS was accurate, plenty of parking when we were there!

Hi everyone. We visited this place since i was celebrating my wife's birthday. We were there during happy hours so some of the cocktails, beers and apertisers were half priced. We ordered mussels, calamari, buffalo wings, liver steak and Alfredo pasta with shrimp. All the food Was tasty. They also had mariachi band during that time so we were lucky. Please Do visit this place to have your own experience and please do comment about the food and overall experience you guys had. Until then much love God bless..

The shredded beef tacos were very good and both red and green salsas were amazing. Staff was attentive and food was ready quickly, I did come in for a late lunch so they weren’t very busy. Will definitely come back to try other dishes. Not sure about the decor/art.

We ate outside. It was a perfect night. We had the calamari for appetizer. Wonderful. Crisp outside and sweet calamari inside. We had enchiladas and Navajo fry bread with chicken with green chili sauce. Both were excellent. Fresh green chili sauce was outstanding.

Green chile stew was to die for. And I’m a big green chile fan! Savory, flavorful and spicy across the board. Prices were great for the portions served. Will definitely be back.

Looking for something different one day and came across Bonita so we decided to give it a try. The appetizers are half price from 2 to 5 the trio dips with chips was great. I had the patty melt, probably the best patty melt I've had in NM.

I was in Santa Fe with family for Thanksgiving. Found this little gem of a restaurant tucked away near the train tracks. I took my family to Bonita Restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant was clean and quaint. The service was great. They sat our group of six (including 2 children under 5)right away. The staff was welcoming and efficient. Our drinks were never empty. The food came out quickly and was exactly as we ordered. The breakfast menu offered both traditional and mexican favorites. I had the migas which were very good. My party raved about their meals as well which leaned towards traditional breakfast items. The prices were reasonable. Patrons consisted of mostly locals . This looks like it would be a great dinner option if you are looking for dinner. Plenty of parking around back. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone while in Santa Fe.
